Garnet (Deccan Garnet)
Garnet is a sandblasting mineral, derived from either Almandite or Andradite deposits. Garnet is inert natural mineral and varies from pink to reddish brown color. Garnet is a industrial gemstone that creates a profile virtually free of embedment, which makes it excellent for coating adhesion, as well as applications where low or no transfer of grit into the substrate can be tolerated.
Garnet is a hard, heavy, durable abrasive. It can be recycled up to 5 times without a loss in performance. Garnet can be used for cleaning steel in various applications including ship building and repair, tanks, offshore platforms, and pipelines. It is also used to provide surface finish for powder coaters.
Advantages of Deccan Garnet

Economical, single use abrasive
Non toxic - inert and natural, crystalline silica levels are less than 1%
May also be recycled.
